About this event

Cultivating Self-Compassion with Gentleness (MRE Level 2 training and peer supervision, also open to mindfulness teachers)

Three linked online sessions: Thursdays 6.30-9.00pm:

3rd November 2022

1st December 2022

2nd February 2023

Inviting participants to move towards difficulty with compassion can lead to emotionally intense moments arising in sessions. While these moments can be very significant for the individual's own learning and insight, it is essential that the mindfulness teacher facilitating the session is well resourced and resilient so that they can hold these moments without undue cost to themselves.

In particular, it is the teacher's capacity to offer kindness and compassion to themselves in the midst of such intense moments that is so important for the long-term resilient well-being of the teacher. This capacity is also at the heart of teaching from a position of authenticity and implicit compassion.

These experiential sessions are primarily focused on exploring how these resources for self-compassion can be cultivated as an ongoing process. There is a particular focus on offering a kind and gentle attitude towards ourselves in that cultivation of self-compassion. To do otherwise is to risk what has been referred to as the “subtle aggression of self-improvement” (Sharples, 2006).

The online sessions are complemented by narrated presentations and other online materials so that more theoretical aspects can be explored individually, allowing the online sessions to have an experiential focus.

Interested in Level 2 MRE Teacher Training or part way through Level 2 Training?

If you have completed the 3 parts of MRE Level 1 teacher training, our Level 2 Teacher Training is open to you and comprises 3 complementary online courses that can be taken in any order. You may also want to continue with your level 2 training if you had started it prior to the pandemic in this new format.

These courses build on the themes developed in our Level 1 training.

The 3 themes explored through sets of online sessions are:

  • Cultivating Self-Compassion with Gentleness (Nov 3rd & Dec 1st 2022, Feb 2nd 2023)
  • Teaching Longer Mindfulness Practices Skilfully, Accessibly & Compassionately (TBA for March-May 2023)
  • Turning Toward Difficulty with Kindness (TBA for later 2023)

The cost for this first round of 3 online sessions on the theme of Self Compassion is £60. The other Level 2 trainings offered through 2023 will be £90 for each set of 3 sessions. The move to online makes it much more feasible to continue to offer this training at low cost to maximise accessibility.

Attendance certificates will be available so you can evidence this as CPD training hours.

Completed our MRE Level 2 Training and Interested in regular Peer Supervision?

As a way of reconnecting after the long gap of the pandemic we are offering these sessions as a peer supervision opportunity to those who have previously completed our Level 2 training.

We think these sessions offer a great opportunity to explore abidingly important issues relevant to all mindfulness teachers and are planning that these sessions could form a set of linked themes that can be fruitfully revisited in an ongoing cycle where we can explore these themes with others in a structured peer-supervision process.

There is a small change of £15 per course to help cover the costs involved in making the resources available.

Attendance certificates will be available so you can evidence this as CPD training hours/supervision hours.

New to MRE but are an established mindfulness teacher?

This online course is open to anyone who has completed a recognised mindfulness teacher training programme (e.g. MBSR, MBCT, Breathworks, .bF). You will need to provide evidence of having completed this training as part of the booking process. For mindfulness teachers who have not attended MRE training workshops or a MRE course there will be mindfulness practices and reading provided prior to the workshop so you have the necessary familiarity with the philosophy underpinning MRE.

The cost for this first round of 3 online sessions on the theme of Self Compassion is £60. The other Level 2 trainings offered through 2023 will be £90 for each set of 3 sessions. The move to online makes it much more feasible to continue to offer this training at low cost to maximise accessibility.

Attendance certificates will be available so you can evidence this as CPD training hours/supervision hours.

Booking

Please use the free preliminary booking ticket to complete the associated booking form which will allow you to indicate whether you are taking this course as part of level 2 teacher training, for peer supervision as an MRE teacher, or as an already qualified mindfulness teacher. We will then send you details of how to pay.
